New Caledonia coming soon - PKRA Wave Champions

The last tour stop of the 2011 PKRA World Tour will be held in 10 days in New Caledonia, at the beautiful beach of Pointe Magnin, Noumea.

This event will give the opportunity to the new freestyle World Champion, Youri Zoon (NED, Slingshot) from Holland to make history in the kiteboarding world by becoming the only rider in competition history to win every single tour stop in a year. Youri already won a total of 6 events all around the world in a wide range of wind conditions.

The best kiteboarders in the world will be in Noumea to make Youri's goal a hard reach: Alex Pastor (ESP, Airush) will be as usual the fierce competitor to the Dutch champion as well as Alberto Rondina (ITA, Cabrinha) and Marc Jacobs (NZL, Switch) who have proven great consistency throughout the year. With style and power, these riders will be fighting once again for their spot on the podium.

Moreover, the ever rising rider Tom Hebert will have the advantage to ride on his home spot and get his numerous fans cheering for him on the beach. Tom won the last event of the 2010 season and will try to reiterate this year on his home spot.

The PKRA has launched the very successful People's Choice online contest, and after 2 weeks of voting Karolina Winkowska (POL, Slingshot) and Sebastien Garat (FRA, RRD) are in the lead, which will make for a very excitng an unusual, man Vs. woman heat between the two. However there are still two weeks for the fans to vote for their favorite riders to decide who will compete on the people's choice heat. These certainly represent an exciting ending for the season!

Due to the cancelation of the last PKRA tour stops in Australia and South Africa, the Waves discipline is over for the year and therefore the PKRA congratulates the best wave riders in the world, the winners of the 2011 PKRA Waves World Tour: Keahi de Aboitiz (AUS, Cabrinha) and Kari Schibevaag (NOR, Ozone).
