Course Racing wraps up day 5 at PKRA ThailandMar-19-2011
The weather in Hua Hin, Thailand was much like it was the first couple days of competition, the sun was shinning however the wind was slightly cooler than normal averaging 16 to 22 knots. The course races got underway near 11:00am in suitable racing conditions averaging roughly 17 minutes per course. The water conditions were a little choppy but flat in most areas.
It was a great day for French rider Olivier Dansin (North, FRA) finishing first in 3 out of the 6 races held today. Dansin is part of the North production class team whom are having great results to date. The 2010 PKRA World Cup Champion, Julien Kerneur whom is part of the custom board class won 2 races today. Despite not taking first place in most of the races, he finished second in two as well as third and fourth place, which keeps him at the top in first place while Dansin, sits securely in second place. Bruno Sroka (Cabrinha, FRA) who is also part of the custom board class took first place in the fourth race of the day as well as two-second places followed by two third places and a fourth. Sroka is currently in 3rd place here in Hua Hin, Thailand.
In the women’s racing division, Steph Bridge (North, GBR) whom is part of the North production class team has been literally on fire the past week. She managed to finish first in 9 out of the 10 total races and would have taken all 10 despite a group entanglement near the end of the fifth race. Her overall mind blowing total score of 12.00 and 6.00 Nett is a significant lead over the other female racers which will most definitively have her winning this racing event here in Hua Hin, Thailand. Katja Roose (Airush, NED) whom is part of the custom board class has had a successful run, taking one first place as well as three second places and two third places which will have her finishing in second place today while Caroline Adrien (Cabrinha, FRA) whom is also part of the custom board class will take third place. It is still a close battle between Roose and Adrien where 1 more race could determine the outcome of the second place winner. Japanese production board class rider Aya Oshima (Cabrinha, JPN) who has finished fourth in 2 of the 10 races will finish this event in fourth place.
